: How do I install the photact system? |
| There are full instructions on how to download and install the Photact system on the Downloads Page. |
| Each time the Photact system starts up on your computer, it looks at the processor and memory available in order to estimate the largest file size your equipment can handle without causing errors. Image files are very demanding on both processors and memory, and trying to images that are too large will cause the computer and the program to stop working correctly. The maximum size available will vary from computer to computer and may even change depending on other programs that are running at the same time. |
| When you release your products for printing, you have the choice between JPG file format, PDF file format or both. The JPG format is designed exclusively for images and will create the best print when the product is made up only of images. The PDF file format was designed for printing 'documents' and is very good for printing text and graphics (such as lines and grids). If your product contains text and/or graphics then the PDF file format will probably give you a better printed product. Calendars should always be printed from PDF files. Photo Books and Digital Scrapbooking pages that have text boxes should also be printed from PDF files. Montages and Digital Framing products should be printed from JPG files for the best print quality. |
